Loss of Characters and Inv twice
Finding it hard to advance in GW as I have lost all of my characters, inventory and items, and money twice in the past 2-3 months. The first time was after a HUGE update, I logged in and found all of my characters gone, the second time was a few days ago, I was ABing and I was reset and when I logged back in, I found my characters and inv gone again. I have tried to reset my pasword with GW and it sends me to a Plaync.com, and there I set up an account and tried to register my game keys and all 3 say that they are not valid, and I cant reset my password. I have contacted Tech and they state that I myself have deleted the characters and items, but I told them I didn't know how if I was in the middle of a battle how that would happen. I haven't gotten a responce from them since. Anyone else have any problems like this?

Hmm not normal. Send a PM to Gaile Grey, she might be able to quicken up the process for you.

Sounds like you have been hacked. I'd worry about the account itself disappearing. Contact support as much as possible until you get it resolved.
That, or check with your household. Evil brother, son, wife, etc.?

when you are online, and someone else tries to connect, Im fairly certain it counts the most recent connection as valid, so if you were hacked, it would just boot you off -- I think.....

I'm sure i remember some people from GWO saying they had the same thing happen, they just relogged and there characters came back.
And it really is a waste of time reporting it to tech... they won't do jack shit. Anet might aswell fire the lazy RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOs. No matter what happens its always our fault.

he had a pre existing NCsoft master account already created with those keys and tried to create a second NCsoft master account with the same keys.
unless already linked you do not get sent to the NCsoft link.
as he said

his report was to tech on the characters not support on the keys.
he should open a support ticket and detail the whole situation and ask for help.
3 times my account has been mixed up and support fixed it fast and were very efficient and very nice about it

thanks for all the great advice, all though none was the direction I needed. I don't know what is going on or what can be done, but Tech support hasn't gotten back to me, nor can I change my password still on plaync.com. As for the crash, I don't belive it was my wife or virus.. my computer seems clear(all the scans my puter tech friend did)(no bots, trojans, viruses). OH WELL, I guess Third Timesa Charm is a fitting name for a new character. Thanks, if anyone sees me on.. drop a note.

I would think the most likely cause of this is having a password stolen.
The chances of someone having their password stolen by a friend, relative, keylogger, virus, etc is far higher than the server randomly deleting YOUR stuff more than once.

The same thing happened to my wife. Tech told her that her ISP changed back and forth and was similar to other accounts (she uses a wi fi hot spot). They deleted her inventory and characters because they thought she was letting someone else use her account. The last time that happened, they replaced some of her stuff. Just be careful if you play the game on a public wi fi hot spot.

Think i know what your referring to... although it might've happened here and i'm getting mixed up. But anyway, i think you mean when the GWO homepage was hacked or something and a trojan/spyware was added to it. It only effected people who loaded the homepage itself though and not a direct link to the forum.
GWO is better for the individual profession forums anyway... absolutely bugger all happens here most of the time.

if the *they* you are refering to is somebody who hacked her account fine
if you are saying *tech* deleted/replaced items you are simply lying not just mistaken.
an account can be locked/unlocked but not altered
playing on an active public hot spot is asking for it as hackers monitor those begging suckers to use them

They reset her account. After she complained they gave her back her bonus/special items. I said "some of her stuff". I don't see how lying about that would benefit me at all. Look up Arenanet Inc. on the Better Business Bureau. It is not unheard of for them to replace bonus items or provide a full or partial refund to settle a BBB complaint. Most of their complaints are marked as "resolved". Granted that most of the "unresolved" complaints are due to "despite the company's reasonable effort to address complaint issues, the consumer remained dissatisfied". Which basically means it was stubborn people who wouldn't accept Arenanet's reasonable efforts to fix the problem. No disrespect intended at all, but do you work for Arenanet Inc? If you don't, how would you be 100% certain they only lock or unlock accounts and assume that I am lying? Like I said, no disrespect intended at all and I apologize if I am mistaken.

That's just f*cking nuts. You can play from wherever the hell you want. It's good that they are alert, but that they do that shit without even warning you is even more f*cked up....good job Anet....

i will give you the benefit of the doubt and explain.
they cannot *reset* an account
they cannot *unlink a key* from an account
the *bonus items* are only gotten when you link the key to the account you will be using it on and are permanently available on that account only at any time by typing */bonus* and that *bonus* can not be removed from the account
the above information is straight from a dev who comfirmed it personally with the head programmer himself
it is not possible to remove the bonus items once the key is linked/activated

That's some of the biggest bullshit i heard for years...
They store the data wich logs what players got on their acount and will be able to alter it at any time.
It's against the eula to use a acount with multiple persons, when they see often changing ip or something similair, they can and sometimes will ban your acount.
However, with everything getting lost it sounds like it could be a problem in the gw data saving for certain acounts.
besides it's loviathar, just ignore him, i know hungry lions that have more credibility

you just posted the Bandini of the month right there
i guess you missed all the different dev posts stating that lost/stolen/hacked accounts cannot be replaced as the database setup will not allow something to be created and restored to someones inventory.
as Gaile stated it is impossible to spoof/change/restore something.
your word or Gailes?
easy choice there......Gaile with no competition at all

Why do people come here to complain about account glitches?
Guild Wars support is the only people who can help with things like that.
